Via een publiekslezing en een krantenartikel werd het Personalised Implants project “Three-dimensional virtual surgical planning and patient-specific osteosynthesis with drilling guides for pelvic fracture surgery” uitgelicht.
Afgelopen 5 april is er een informatieve lezing gehouden binnen de UMCG Medische Publieksacademie reeks. Dr. Frank IJpma en dr. Anne Meesters, van de afdeling Traumachirurgie en het UMCG 3DLab, vertelden over hun werk voor het herstellen van heupfracturen met behulp van een geoptimaliseerd 3D ontwerpproces om implantaten op maat te maken voor de patiënten. De online lezing werd voorafgegaan door een artikel in het Dagblad van het Noorden waarin goed werd uitgelegd waarom een standaard implantaat niet bij alle patiënten hetzelfde past, waardoor gepersonaliseerde oplossingen de betere keuze zijn.
Het gepresenteerde werk is mogelijk gemaakt door de financiering binnen het Personalised Implants ecosysteem en wordt uitgevoerd in nauwe samenwerking met het regionale bedrijf Witec Fijnmechanische Techniek dat gespecialiseerd is in het vervaardigen van implantaten. Het werk omvat 2 Personalised Implants projecten en is gericht op de optimalisatie van de volledige productie-workflow van implantaten die worden toegepast bij de fixatie van heupfracturen, zoals toegelicht door Dr. Frank IJpma en Dr. Anne Meesters tijdens hun lezing.

Last 5th of April, an informative open lecture was released within the UMCG Medical Public Academy series. Dr. Frank IJpma and Dr. Anne Meesters, from the Traumasurgery department and the UMCG 3DLab told about their work for reparation of hip fractures using an optimized 3D design process to make implants tailored to the patients. The online lecture was preceded by an article on the Dagblad van het Noorden that well explained why a standard implant does not fit all patients the same, therefore making personalised solutions the better choice.
The work presented is made possible through the funding within the Personalised Implants ecosystem and it is performed in close collaboration with the regional company Witec Fijnmechanische Techniek which specializes in implant manufacturing. The work extends over 2 Personalised Implants projects and aims to the optimization of the complete implant production workflow that is applied in the fixation of hip fractures, as explained by Dr. Frank IJpma and Dr. Anne Meesters in their lecture.
